Devon Engagement Service

Legal Aid Website
This website, Legal Aid Devon, allows users to click on a map of their local area and then see what legal aid advice providers are available nearby.  Another feature allows people to check if they are eligible for free legal aid.  The site has been launched to help improve access to free and independent legal advice in Devon and was born out of a partnership between the Citizens Advice Bureau and Shelter.

Free Will Writing
Are you worried about leaving a Will?  Concerned about the costs involved?  At present you can make or update your Will for free and help save lives. The offer is open to all aged 50 or over. The Institute of Cancer Research has teamed up with local Solicitors to create a Will for Free scheme. You can get independent professional advice enabling you to make a basic Will or update an existing one and it won't cost you a penny as the Institute of Cancer Research will bear the cost.  All they ask is that you leave a donation to them to help fund future research although you are under no obligation to do so. There are a list of local solicitors to choose from.  Solicitors in Exeter, Axminster, Barnstaple and Exmouth are included with many more.  For more information on the scheme call 02071535387 or log on to www.icr.ac.uk

Pastime Players

Their play "Rationing to Rock and Roll" is designed to stimulate the memory in an older audience. Prompting memories is considered to be of great benefit to those suffering memory related problems. They are available to perform at a mutually agreed time and suitable location. There is no fee (though donations are gratefully accepted) but expenses may be charged depending on location.

For more information please contact info@pastimeplayers.co.uk or telephone Jan on 01392 206429.  For further details about the group on www.pastimeplayers.co.uk
